Welsh Nature & Ancient History: My Biggest Inspirations

I grew up surrounded by the Welsh countryside — rolling hills, ancient woodland, wild coastline. That connection to nature runs through everything I make: the oak leaves, the snail shells, the botanical textures pressed into soft clay. But nature is only part of the story. I have always been drawn to ancient history and mythology — the Viking age, Egyptian goddess figures, Celtic knotwork, Norse runes. There is something deeply human about the desire to wear symbols of power and meaning. Metal clay lets me bring those ancient motifs into the present, handmade one piece at a time in a tiny studio in Wales. Every piece I make is a conversation between the natural world and the mythological — between the land I live on and the stories that have always felt like home.
